The Northwest Has Been Epic

On March 26, 2012, in Featured, News, Photographers, Riders, by jeremy

I have spent the last three weeks riding some of the most powder Mt Baker and the rest of the Northwest has ever seen. So many days where we woke up to 20 inches of powder in the snow report. Days where it snowed 30 inches during daylight. It was like I was a snow yeti, hiding amongst the trees in search of visability, frozen particles of ice sticking to everything in sight.

J Dubs pow filming
There was so much powder coming down, I would have to shake a few centimeters off my camera bag every couple minutes. Its quite a challenge, but if you have a porta-brace cover it will protect your video camera quite well.

Seth Hill came out to visit. We were hanging out at Stevens Pass hitting some sick jumps, like this cattrack gap.

Andy Bergin Sperry Handplants Some Pillows
Andy Bergin-Sperry is an up and comer with a great attitude and hammertime style. He executes unique tricks and has a fun time doing it. In this photo he’s miller flipping from behind the pillow.

Madison Ellsworth is full of style. He has been on the scene for a while and whenever he’s riding his board he makes it look easy. Here he is enjoying one of the many powder days we had during March 2012 at Mt Baker.

Colin Spencer is on a tear, he has been getting photos and stomped tricks since the moment I met him. He came out to the Northwest with fellow YES Snowboards rider Madison Ellsworth on a mission to ride as much pow as possible. This photo was so full of stoke, that Mt Baker Ski Area featured it on their homepage for a week.

Living the Baker Dream

On March 11, 2012, in News, Riders, by SethHill

1 week down and nothing but epic POW and good times in Beautiful Mt. Baker Washington! As with any trip or fairly new experience anticipations are high as well as the nerves. But as the Snow dumped around me standing in the Baker parking lot, the nerves dissipated and I realized I could have never anticipate how sick this trip was going to be!

From the second this adventure started things were headed in the right direction. I guess I expected some pow riding, but could have never guessed what the dudes at Wild Card had in store for me. In one week alone we’ve hit more jumps, more jibs, and for sure more pow than I’ve touched all winter. But it hasn’t just been hitting these things; its meant stacking photos with multiple photographers, hitting one feature with 8 cameras around me. Its meant spending an entire day riding the resort than ending it off with the legendary “Road Gap”. It’s meant having a blast hitting every pillow or tree in sight and getting a photo on the Mt. Baker website. Its meant deciding to buy a Snowmobile just for the sake of fitting in Ok more to go get to some hidden spots). It’s meant watching one of the craziest dudes alive chuck insane double corks off a jump. And lastly its meant having a freaking awesome time, sun up to sun down every day.

Wildcard Superpark Edit

On October 28, 2011, in Featured, News, by admin

Wildcard went to Superpark 15 at Mt Bachelor to film a unique segment documenting the overall picture of the event and the crazy snowboard trickery of the world’s best snowboard crews. We ended up producing a video which was featured in Snowboarder Magazine’s Showdown Video Event along with 16 of the industry’s top pro film crews. Here’s what the staff at Snowboarder had to say:
Wildcard has been flying the flag for the Northwest scene for a few seasons now. As the evolution of Soundstrait Productions and Funner Films, Wildcard has created a cult following among shred film viewers looking for top-level production values to match the talent onscreen. The skits in their latest release, The Saturday Night Ride, are some of the best ever to appear in a snowboard movie. For their Superpark® 15 Video Showdown submission, Wildcard focused on the action with original angles of some of the most talked about tricks of the week including Scott Blum’s Andrecht and Scott Vine’s one-foot 720. Longtime Wildcard player Pat McCarthy throws a heave-ho and adds some narrative to the package while riders like Seth Hill, Stefan Krumm, and Joe Mango make their mark at Mt. Bachelor. Witness LNP land his first McTwist ever. This alone is reason to click the “Like” button by their edit.”
