The University of Idaho Ski and Snowboard Club held a premier for The Saturday Night Ride on Nov 17th, 2010.
Words from Colby Blair who helped organize the event:
The premier went really well, we had a good turnout, even though we lost some promo time to get the venue. I got a lot of questions about where to get a copy, so you might have some orders coming your way! The film was awesome man, a lot of people pretty stoked on it. We were able to hook a couple boards and Spy stuff as well as some of our own gear. Our photo guy didn’t make it, so I had to take the pics myself. I also ended up having to work logistics back and forth, so I didn’t get to get on stage and get photographed.
I think another film event would be really awesome, so I think we are going to do one in January. Probably re-show SNR if that works for you guys. Thanks so much again for The Saturday Night Ride, the club is pretty stoked on you guys!
Take care,
Colb
Q & A by Jeremy Dubs
Who are you, what is your home mountain?
Colby Blair, my mountain is Brundage since I was 11. The other resorts in the area are pretty awesome as well, but that’s our mountain.
Why were you throwing this premier?
Partially because of Funner premiers in the past, partially to keep Vandal Snow alive. But mainly to get people stoked for the new season.
What were the challenges from throwing a big movie premier like this?
I guess I would equate the challenges of the premier with anything we do at the university. There is a huge medium at the university to find people excited about snow sliding, and access to some resources we wouldn’t otherwise have. The university also supports the team a lot. But, trying to schedule and get things through paperwork and authoritative entities is usually about 90% of the challenge.
How many people showed up, was it a good time?
About 30-40, although we ended up cutting our promo time down to get the venue. It was a blast, getting pumped full of Red Bull and watching snowboarding. People kept asking where to get the film, so I guess they had fun.

Favorite moments from the movie?
The Shake Weight? Ha! There were a couple huge cliff bombs that stuck out to me, it’s just crazy to see how much bigger snowboarding keeps getting.
Any funny comments about The Saturday Night Ride from the crowd?
I dunno, they were laughing to hard in spots to understand.

People you want to thank from the event:
Funner & Wildcard of course, you guys are awesome. Our sponsors Spy, Smith, Kronik Energy, Red Bull, Signal Snowboards, U of I, and everyone in Vandal Snow who is working their butts off this year.
Final comments:
Thanks everyone for coming and supporting the club and the team, you guys rock. Support Funner & Wildcard, go buy the movie, these guys have helped us out a lot, creating events like this. Getting on the mountain seems like it is becoming more exclusive in this economy and in our area of life, but I think what Funner & Wildcard help us do is get people together and make it so it is not so exclusive anymore.
